The Philadelphia Eagles announced on Thursday that they have re-signed defensive end Derek Barnett to a two-year contract. Barnett was the No. 14 overall pick by the Eagles in the 2017 NFL Draft.
The 25-year-old Barnett has tallied 21½ sacks for the Eagles during his five seasons, and amassed 46 total tackles in 2021, the most in a single season during his career. However, Barnett missed 10 games in 2018 with a torn rotator cuff, and over the last three seasons has dealt with lower-body injuries. Barnett only picked up two sacks last season, after picking up 5½ sacks in 2020 and 6½ sacks in 2019.
