Alex Van Halen shares snippet of final recording with Eddie Van Halen

Alex Van Halen has shared a snippet of an unreleased track written with his late brother Eddie called “Unfinished,” which is scheduled to arrive next month alongside the release of his memoir Brothers. The 384-page book has been described as Alex’s “love letter” to Eddie, who died of a stroke on October 6th, 2020, at the age of 65 after battles with throat and lung cancer.

The audiobook version of Alex Van Halen’s upcoming memoir, Brothers, will contain the final piece of music the drummer wrote and recorded with his late brother and bandmate, guitarist Eddie Van Halen. Brothers is set for release on October 22nd via HarperCollins, who confirmed the track is “the last piece of music they wrote together” before Eddie’s death in 2020.

Alex Van Halen has remained reclusive since Eddie’s passing, and hasn’t performed in public or conducted interviews. He did release the following statement about his upcoming memoir: “This is my tribute to my brother; my way of saying goodbye. Ed, I love you and miss you. When I see you again, I’m gonna kick your ass!”
